Very good resource book but only suitable for people with considerable experience in Pilates,

As a pilates instructor I find this book to be an excellent resource as it provides a comprehensive list of all the classical Pilates exercises as well as modifications for Reformer exercises so that they can be included in a mat based routine. So for me as an instructor it has provided lots of inspiration for new ideas to include in a class.
HOWEVER, if you have never done pilates before this is NOT the book for you. The exercises are demonstrated in their advanced form with very little instruction given in how to make them easier for beginners or what pathways to follow in order to be able to do the advanced level eventually. While the techiques used are true to the original exercises, they are not suitable for all levels of ability. I also think the diagrams may be difficult to follow if you have no experience. There are some suggested modifications given at the end of the book for people with injuries but these would appear to assume that you are familiar with the technique and I feel they are included so that an experienced person can continue to train while injured, but I do not think they are appropriate for someone with no experience.
Overall, this is a great book if you are experienced in Pilates and are looking for something to add a challenge to your routine. I would not recommend this book for beginners either male or female.
