A Good Start : Needs Work to Finish It,
This review is from: Scottish Ceramics (Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Hardcover)
No index always disappoints me but here you need a copy of Goddens marks to make any sense of this book. Try looking up Wemyss and Nautilus pottery. Nothing. Forty potteries in the contents page and you had better know who was the final commpany that took over the manufacturer you are interested in. (Fife or Gallatoun, then Possil for the two mentioned)
I bought the book in the hope of expanding my knowledge of the porcelain production at West Pans. All I got was half a page of text and suggested reading, mostly unobtainable articles only published in the Northern Ceramics Society journals.
The book is full of colour illustrations together with prices but no dates. The first I can imagine being useful for identification purposes but most price guides tend to be arbitrary when not on specifics with limited production or an acknowledged range.
Not what I had wanted, but some might find it useful rather than ornamental.
