I was looking for a game to buy when i came accross this. i saw it was by the same lot that made gta3. since this was pretty much its main selling point, i couldn't help but notice.
gta3 is one of the best games i have ever played. this is not. it sounded so promising; freedom to roam, hundreds of characters on screen at once.
well, the 'hundreds of characters' may well have appeared, but for all the intellect they showed and interest they provide, you kind of wish they hadn't.
and the supposed freedom to roam. well, maybe it gets better later in the game. i only played this game onceand so didn't get much further than halfway through the first level, but that level seemed to be a pretty small shopping mall. also, i only ever got jobs from one guy, when i was supposed to be able to get them from a variety of sources. not that it would have mattered probably, all the tasks set were very similar.
frankly, i expected more. much more. but when you think about it, the theme of this game is not a great idea. it just trades off the fact that it is contriversial, and unfortunately, i was one of the many mugs who fell for it.
maybe its worth renting if it sounds like your kind of thing, but if you really want to buy it, go for second hand or wait for it to go platinum range. and then maybe, just maybe, it could be worth a look.
