Summer Southern Fried Rawk..!,
This review is from: High on the Hog (Audio CD)I bought '73's 'Raunch 'n' Roll Live' a couple of years ago. Apart from the funky Hot 'n' Nasty, and Up featuring a blinding Tommy Aldridge drum solo, I was a bit disappointed by some of the rather inaccessible and dated sounding tracks on the lp.
With '73's 'High on the Hog' however, Black Oak Arkansas really nailed it this time! Definitely on par with Skynyrd's 'Pronounced..' of the same time, there's lovely liquid guitar throughout and consistent feel-good summer southern fried rawk! Choice tracks Swimmin' in quicksand and of course, Jim Dandy are bloody brilliant!
Crack open a beer, kick back... this is great ;-D
