Useful zoom but has limits,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Tamron SP AF 28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical [IF] Macro Lens for Pentax (Accessory)
This lens has a useful 28-75mm range, which is good for portraits and a general walkabout lens. However, it struggles in lower light situations despite the large aperture, and it is really not that great for macro. I've found that it is a pretty sharp lens for portraits and general shots, but when you try to use it in macro scenarios, it is just not critically sharp enough neither can you get close enough to make it a decent macro lens. The colours are also not as punchy as I would like so will need some post processing. Overall, I am pleased with the lens. As always, one has to weigh the quality of a prime lens (such as the pentax limited lens, which are amazing) or the convenience but slightly lower quality of a zoom. Shame we can't have both...
