Pricey - but worth it.,
This review is from: Chicco Magic Star Cot Mobile (Blue) (Baby Product)
Chicco Magic Star Cot Mobile (Blue)
About ten quid more than than other good mobiles but having read many reviews prior to purchase this seemed to tick all the boxes, and I was not disappointed.
I wanted a mobile that projected MOVING images - which this does. The noise activated start is something I never thought I would need until I got this, and now I have no idea how other people cope with non-noise (aka crying [although the hairdryer also sets it off!]) activated mobiles...gives us (well, Mum) that extra few minutes to 'prepare' for the 03.30 feed!
Only used with the rotating canopy so far due to baby's age although have tested it with the canopy off and looks great on white ceiling and am sure he will love it when older.
I have seen some reviews saying the lack of contrasting colour on the physical mobile should be greater (blues/pinks only depending on version) but to be honest this isn't an issue for me, I don't want him to be studying contrast, I want him soothed, which this mobile does.
So, as title - a bit pricey but in my opinion, worth every penny because he loves it.

I am interested in this product, but i would prefer to be able to switch off the automated activation side of it when baby makes a noise, Can anyone tell me if i can switch off that function or not.

You can switch off the automatic functions and operate it manually - basically you turn it off and on with one of the two switches (the other switches the canopy rotate on/off - saves battery life in the off position!)

Thanks for your helpful review. Can I just ask a couple of things please?
Firstly, on the automated setting does the projector come on as well as the music (as per item description) or just the music only as another reviewer claims?
And are you able to give any more detail in the classical music please? (Do you know what it is, is it one piece of music only or more, is it 'plinky-plonky' or more orchestral sounding, is it likely to get annoying after a while? etc)
Hope you don't mind me asking so much! Many thanks in advance!

The projector does not come on automatically - only the music and (if attached and switched on) the mobile. There is a mixture of music, not plinkey plonkey, unfortunately I don't know the tunes, they aren't mainstream popular classical although one of them is a waltz. It mixes classical with the New Age music (i.e you cannot select one or the other to only play when in automatic mode) but none of the tunes are particularly irritating, after 6 months it's still tolerable and still one of the best bits of kit I have purchased as it definately soothes him back to sleep - even when he was teething! - Despite buying it for the projection function I have not really used this regularly as this tends to eat batteries and when I do it's to keep him occupied whilst awake rather than soothing him off to sleep.

That's great, thanks so much for your response (and so quickly!), it's been a big help to have my questions answered. It does sound like a really good projection mobile and well-worth the money as most don't have the moving projector or the automated setting, both of which I'm really looking for.
Thanks again & all the best to you and your little one!
