I was not sure how much I would enjoy this book but immediately upon its arrival I opened it up and found something fascinating on the first random page selected. Since then I have taken the time to sit down and go through every page in the book and I have been amazed at the number of entries and the countries from which words and phrases originate. I can think of plenty of friends who would love this book and Suggs it is a perfect gift item for anyone who has an interest in the origins of food and its development over the past 400 years.
The book is easy to read and easy to look up words and the explanations are not too long and not too short and if there are country differences in usage then you get them as well. All round an excellent book.
