A Book for Thought,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Food for Thought (Hardcover)
Recently greatly enjoyed the "fine dining" experience at a restaurant where Alan Murchison is in command. It was this that prompted my purchase of Food for Thought.
I was very surprised that in some outlets the cost of the book was up to £50 and well presented and interesting as it is I don't feel that this price tag is justified, so shop around, you'll need all your money to pay for the ingredients.
The introduction, is to my mind overly long, as is the product acknowledgements at the end, I would have preferred a few more recipes, after all how many of us can afford a Thermomix let alone know what it is!
I found the basics section at the back of the book very useful, mastering a few of those recipes and having experienced how they should taste, can certainly add a bit of style to home cooking and encourage the reader to try some of the other recipes which can appear a bit daunting given number of ingredients and processes.
If you like good food and want to raise your culinary expertise this is a good book to have, if not, it might just stay sitting on the shelf.
