Another excellent release of this cult fave.,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Spider Baby [DVD] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC] (DVD)
Owners of the excellent image release are probably looking at this and thinking, why bother? The image dis was great, with liner notes from joe dante, commentary from jack hill and a couple of featurettes and fans of the film such as myself have been very happy.
Out of curiosity I decided to give this release a try on the strength of other dark sky titles such as their definitive edition of texas chainsaw massacre and the supurb Who can kill a child?, and upon recieving this disc and watching it I can happily say any spider baby fan will find it well worth while owning both this AND the previous image release.
Why? you may well ask, well... this is a different cut of the movie with scenes incorperated that were previously only available as deleted scenes
a brand new commentary from jack hill and sid haig plus a 40 plus minute making of. Its worth keeping the previous release due to the extras not on this disc plus owning the origional cut of the movie; but this is far and away the best release yet.

This edition is well worth getting, this reviewer can be relied upon to know what they are talking about, great stuff, the DVD cover artwork is striking too.

And the review is getting negative feedback thanks to being stuck under the arrow release! Still, I will be picking up this arrow disc when its released so stay tuned!

Interestingly, while this review is clearly not of the new Arrow dual-format release, it's still surprisingly valid - as it's got the same version of the film (albeit bumped up to 1080p), the same commentary and the extensive "making-of" (plus a fair bit more).

I really wish Amazon would stop sticking reviews onto other products...
I'll also be picking up the Arrow release. I have the two previous DVD releases and love the film a lot. From what i've seen and read the Arrow release looks to be a great upgrade!

Also it seems I can't post a review for this new Arrow release seeing as my dvd review of the dark sky release is up there!?
For the record the Arrow release is phenomenal. It looks amazing. Dont give up the image release as its the only way to see the origional theatrical cut of the movie but this is a definate upgrade over the dark sky release.
