2 outta 3 ain't bad, could have been better,
This review is from: Doctor Who Revisitations 2 (The Seeds of Death / Carnival of Monsters / Resurrection of the Daleks) [DVD] (DVD)Well here we are with Revisitations boxset 2, Has another 3 stories which have been given the "extras" treatment
Carnival of Monsters, not too bad a story bearing in mind it was released back in the 70's, so it does look a bit dated, but i've seen worse, compared to later releases, this does resemble the "Poor relation", so i think will be a good one for the upgrade.
Resurrection of the Daleks, well my personal favourite, it has Rula Lenska, Rodney Bewes, introduces Terry Malloy as Davros, and says goodbye to Tegan and asides some over acting and death my shaving foam, this is a great story and one which i am looking forward to seeing with all the extras, as i am a great Dalek fan.
So my achilies heel in this boxset has to be the third story Seeds of Death, firstly i think this is a great story, i love Patrick troughton as the Doctor, and loved the interaction between the Doctor, Jamie and Zoe, my problem is why this story? as it was released as a 2 disc story, with one disc having a plethero of extras, i think that other stories like Spearhead from Space, Tomb of the Cybermen or even The Aztecs, would have benefited from an upgrade, hence why i have given it only 4 stars.
much as i am not a fan of boxsets, as usually there is one story i'm not that keen on, this is one i will be purchasing and look forward to seeing all the older copies of these stories on Ebay.

Spearhead from Space, The Tomb of the Cybermen and The Aztecs will probably be in the third Revistations box set, with the likes of The Robots of Death in the following one.

James T. Cluskey says:
Spearhead from Space will be released later in 2011 (possibly in a set with Terror of the Autons, either way it won't be in a Revisitations set).
The Tomb of the Cybermen and The Robots of Death have had new extras made for them so will be in Rev. 3 in 2011/2012, The Aztecs can't really be improved, I doubt that'll be re-release that.

If they can unnecessarily re-do talons of Weng Chiang, they can re-do The Aztecs. And probably The Green Death, Claws of Axos and a few other slightly underweight discs. Expect future revisitation boxes to be padded with stories that didn't really need it.

They're only doing 3 sets.

Where did you hear that Spearhead from Space will be rereleased later this year, but not in a Revisitations box set?
Or is that just your prediction because they're only doing 3 sets?

The latest edition of Dr Who magazine has an interview with the team behind the DVD releases and has stated that at the present time they only intend to have 3 revisitations box sets although Spearhead from Space will not be included in these they will be releasing it this year in a box set along with terror of the autons.
This is quite a good article and lists the proposed releases for this year, Day of the Daleks will be released at the end of the year along with new Dalek voices and FX,
At last for some, like myself who grew up with both Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker there looks like a glut of 3RD Doctor releases this year, his Final story should be released in the very near future.
I hope this helps, but it would be good to get the latest edition of Dr Who magazine as this does list the iminent releases.
