Complete.....sort of, but still great!,

This review is from: The Real Ghostbusters: Season 1 [DVD] (DVD)This new DVD set from Sony is exellent. Though it's a bit confusing when it uses the term 'complete first season', allow me to explain. In 1986, the Real Ghostbusters cartoon's first season had 78 episodes in it's first season in total, though 13 of those episodes would air on Saturday mornings on the American TV network; ABC, while the other 65 were aired in syndication across America, to be shown on various networks during the week Monday-Friday. This set from Sony only has the 13 episodes that aired on ABC on these two disks, but that's what I thought it would be from the start. So I'm guessing if Sony continues these releases, we might end up with 8 seasons, instead of 7, or they might merge two seasons together. Overall this set is great, there's no extras, but it has quite a few other language versions, as well as English. Funnily enough though one of the episodes is missing it's Spanish language track, but it has Spanish subtitles, it clearily says that on the Menu on Disk 2. Overall for the price, this is a great starter to any Real Ghostbusters DVD collection and here's hoping Sony will continue to release these shows on DVD and perhaps they could import some of the extras from the Time Life sets in later releases.

This review wasreally useful, and although I have already bought the disc, it's not arriving for another week!
If you see this comment, is there a chance you could list the 13 episodes that are included on this release? Wikipedia has an entry on the split seasons but I'd just like to make sure what I'm getting. I guess this means that there's no Collect Call of Cthulhu or Ragnarok & Roll. Which is a shame.

If you are that keen on Real Ghostbusters DVDS, did you know that all 147 Episodes that were made between 1986-91 have been released as a complete set in America which I own. Also the DVDS are REGION 0 FREE, while all UK TVS and Video DVD Machines now feature NTSC Playback meaning if the DVDS are Region 0, you can play them no problem but even if not region zero, all you need is a Multi Region DVD Player. But you can only buy this Real Ghostbusters DVD set off Time Life's own site who only ship to USA and Canada. But I got a friend who know's someone in Canada to buy it and I paid them plus to ship it to the UK. They only made 13 episodes in 1986. It was 1987 that another 13 Saturday episodes were made plus 65 syndicated episodes in season 2, equalling 91 episodes made up to date in 1987. In 1988 they added half an hour making it a one hour show called Slimer And The Real Ghostbusters. The Slimer Episodes are included in the complete USA Box Set which I can't ever see them releasing in the UK, if they release more at all, it will only be up to the 1987 episodes I promise you.

Wow, thank you for your help on this!! I didn't realise you could get it from there, I assumed it was a limited edition thing I'd already missed. Really appreciate it, I will track it down asap! Loved this show and the new release has just proved why!

Thank you! I don't know why Amazon seem reluctant to add much product info anymore...they'd prefer us to do it! Much appreciated, pixiepoison. :)!!

I think French, German and Spanish are the other languages, though 'Welcome Home Ray' is missing the Spanish track, at least on the original print on this DVD set.
