Camel followed up their excellent self-titled debut with this masterpiece. Like it's predecessor, it's as good as if not a better prog rock album than anything their contemporaries were knocking out at the time.
'Freefall' is a good rocky workout to open the record. 'Supertwister' is a beautifully delicate instrumental with lots of flute. Then the Lord Of The Rings inspired 'Nimrodel/Procession/White Rider' provides the listener with lots of swirling prog epicness. 'Earthrise' is probably the weak point on the album despite being a half decent display of musical proficiency. The finale 'Lady Fantasy' is arguably the best piece of music Camel ever committed to disc. It sums up everything thats good about this record, great melodies that stay with you forever, great musicianship, and awesome instrumental passages.
There's no question that Camel would make some questionable albums in the late 70s and 80s, but at their best, they are just as good a prog act as Yes, Floyd or Genesis. 'Mirage' is testament to the fact.
