The most important book I have ever read!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Full Catastrophe Living: How to Cope with Stress, Pain and Illness Using Mindfulness Meditation (Paperback)
I read this book eight years ago and I found it to be so valuable that I read it again two years later. To this day, I continue to reference certain chapters from time to time and eight years after first reading it, I continue to practice the techniques I learned from the book.
Grounded in scientific research, Jon Kabat-Zinn explores the connections between mind and body to the point where there is no longer any obvious division between the two. This book offers the reader access to a new way of living that is rooted in mindfulness. The instructions offered are easy to understand. This book is primarily intended for those facing chronic or terminal illness or emotional pain, but it can really benefit a far more general audience - those who want to live their lives more fully.

I completely and wholeheartedly agree with this comment. This is one of the best, most practical and helpful books I have read and everyone should read it at some point in their lives - those dealing with pain and illness and those who are not. I discovered this book 3 years ago and wish I had read it years ago. I continue to practice many of the techniques and continue to dip in and out of the book now and then. The negative comment posted from someone else shows they were probably not in the right time or place to fully embrace the richness of life this book was sharing. Jon shares mindfulness in an easy, natural and practical way that everyone can enjoy and participate in. I felt I was part of one of his groups when reading the book. I wish mindfulness was fully integrated into NHS treatment plans here in the UK just as it is in the US. Enjoy.
