Kenya dig it?,
This review is from: A Thousand Tiny Wings (Doctor Who) (Audio CD)
The latest Seventh Doctor audio from Big Finish is a beautifully understated human interest story, set against the backdrop of the Mau Mau rebellion in 1950s Kenya. The Time Lord is travelling alone, but soon hooks up with an old foe, and is reminded that no-one is wholly evil - not even a dyed-in-the-wool Nazi. With passing references to television serial `Silver Nemesis', the story is perfectly pitched for Sylvester McCoy's more Machiavellian Doctor; even as he saves the day he is still manipulating people and seeing a mounting death toll amongst those he encounters - McCoy has the role down pat by now, and this is a great script that eschews fast-paced drama and sci-fi shenanigans for a more nebulous and consequently even more menacing threat.
Disc 1 has the usual interviews with cast and crew; Tracey Childs and Sylvester McCoy are unsurprisingly the best interviewees of the bunch.
