Don't listen to the 1 star reviews, they're ridiculous!,
This review is from: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is a wonderful game. If you have played any of Bethesda's previous releases such as Oblivion or Fallout 3, then you will be accustomed to the artful way in which free-roaming worlds are created. The game is very much about character building. You start off weak, you complete quests and tasks and thus level up giving the game a good growth arc. You can decide to focus your growth in areas which you are interested in; want to be a mage? Then focus on your magic skills, want to be a warrior? Then combat and weaponry is for you etc. The fate of your character really is in your hands.
A quick note then on the three individuals who chose to give the game a 1 star review. Everyone is of course entitled to their opinion (so long as it is one supported by constructive arguments). Firstly, if you don't like the fantasy genre as a rule then avoid this game because it is heavily fantasy-based. Secondly, the game is not just about running around landscape after landscape doing nothing, it is about exploration and freedom (plus there is a quick-travel option for locations you have already visited), and thirdly, if you are still having problems with the "ring of death" then your Xbox360 is too old. That problem was all but solved already by Microsoft with the release of its most recent updated console (and if you do get the ring of death, it certainly has nothing to do with the disc you put into the console). Lastly, all modern Xbox360 games which require updates contain that data on the disc so it's not like you have to download or pay for anything, just waiting patiently for 5-6 minutes while it updates itself will suffice.
Overall, Skyrim is a great game, everything I (and up to this point, 45 or so others of you who have bought it) had hoped for after the marvellous Oblivion. Like I said, if fantasy is not your thing then avoid it!
Highly recommended to everyone else!!
