I read a vast number of books per week particularly historical fiction. I tend not to read books about the Nazis/holocaust maybe perhaps because I can't bear to think that these horrible occurrences happened not that long ago. So I chose this book with a cautious mind but ended up loving it! I felt every emotion along with every character and sometimes I had to stop reading it because I was so upset thinking that instances described in the book probably did happen the way they are depicted. It's a clever book and is very thought provoking. I wondered what I would do in the same position as Dagmar... In the end I felt less sympathy for her and more for the people she used along the way. But some people would anything to survive and that's what she was doing... Surviving a situation that was unjust, immoral and deeply shocking and none of her or any Jewish persons making. Anyway please buy this book - you won't regret it !
