Unusual Thought Provoking Story,

Despite the strange title, this is a wonderful journey of Joanie and Scout's unusual life. Joanie, in a moment of emotion, decides to hire out her womb and become a surrogate mother. Things go well for about three months into the pregnancy when she decides that she actually wants to keep the baby for herself so tells the couple she is having the baby for that she has miscarried. Unfortunately, Joanie is recognised eleven years later by one of the workers from the IVF clinic who sees her outside school waiting to pick up Scout, the girl she `miscarried'. Joanie is a very happy-go-lucky and flippant sort of person and after receiving legal letters she just tears them up and moves out of the area - what can they do ? she's the birth mother of Scout after all, she can't be accused of stealing her own child !
From the moment Joanie takes herself and daughter on the run, Scout tries so hard to keep up with schoolwork and education in general. She's not sure why she can't go to school like all the other kids but does her very best by befriending locals who teach her their techniques for maths and etiquette, in particular. Obviously their nomadic life must come to an end and there is a lot of soul searching by Joanie and truths to be told to Scout. All in all this is a great story written with emotion and morals high on the scoreboard. There's never a dull moment and has lots of subject matter to muse and contemplate. A thought provoking easy read - much recommended.
