A nice design but...,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: New ATTEN AT 858D+ 858D SMD Hot Rework Digital Station Air Solder Blower Gun (Misc.)
My unit wasn't correctly earthed. It relies on the metal panels being connected to earth via screws through the painted faces. My meter indicated that this optimism was misplaced. Only the bottom panel, where the earth wire was actually connected was properly earthed. Not too difficult to fix though, and my unit didn't have any of the other dangerous manufacturing faults attributed to it on the web. However, I recommend you google and check for them in any case as some have been very dangerous. In particular, the heater is in the handle and is mains powered, so the nozzle must be properly earthed (mine was). My remaining concern lies with the main connector inside, which carries both mains and low voltage signals to the PCB in close proximity. I try not to think about that too much.
In use, it's a different story. An amusing combination of analogue control for the fan speed and digital control for temperature, but it works very well. A clever design with both heater and fan in the tool, but even so it's very easy to wield, and has enough power to do the jobs I've asked of it. It struggles to get an adequate amount of heat through the wider nozzles, but I typically use the narrow one which works very well.
I don't recommend holstering it as shown in the picture. That looks like a recipe for burning hand and desk. It should be the other way around, with friendly end towards you and the desk, and angry end in free space.
Nearly forgot. As others have said, neither the supplied cable or the sad apology for a UK adapter is fused, so should either be replaced or a proper UK plug fitted.
