1.0 out of 5 stars Look great, BUT...., 4 Jun 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Joseph Joseph Elevate Carousel Gift Set, 6 Piece - Multi Colour (Kitchen & Home)
...beware! Lets be honest 40 for utensils is a little extravegant however, they look lovely in my kitchen until I did three important things

1.Move the carousel. The utensils don't stay on it, knock one ladle slightly and all they all fall off. VERY ANNOYING.

2.They are not heat proof! I have a few melted bits on coloured parts of the handles. This I find simply ridiculous.

3.Don't use them to stir anything with turmeric or colours in it as they stain! The very reason I wanted black ones was so they wouldn't do this.

All in all, buy yourself some cheaper ones as they will do the same but not look as good. OR buy these if you have no intention on actually using them.

Nice to look at, not cook with.

The WHOLE POINT of these is that the little foot and weighted handle allow you to place these on you work surface, NOT rest them on the edge of hot pans, so its your fault if the handles have melted.
The handles don't NEED to be heatproof, that's the whole point. The handles should never come into contact with a hot surface.

Ridiculous - of course the handles NEED to be heatproof. Even if you never intend them to come in contact with the side of the pan this can happen accidentally. I agree with the poster - expensive item that is just not fit for the purpose.
