clunky but effective,
This review is from: linkword Languages Spanish European Language Course by Dr Michael Gruneberg (Nightingale Conant) (CD-ROM)
The software is very basic, with no way of returning to the previous page, clicking between other applications or saving if you have to stop half way through a lesson. In addition there are lots of errors, and you will learn some totally obscure words like gutter and surgical tape while not being told some very basic ones, but nevertheless this works. It is not just the linkword system, which to be quite honest is only effective for a minority of words, but the way it gets you to use what you have learned to create sentences.
There is no way that these four cds will have you speaking Spanish, but no one system will. It will however give you a better command of vocabulary than any other system. That is why I am giving it 5 stars. I would strongly recommend using this when you are at home on the computer, and the Michel Thomas method (audio tapes) for your grammar. Together they complement each other perfectly. If, in addition, you are also doing a language class, trying to watch Spanish films and taking Spanish occasionally to friends or going on holiday then you will progress rapidly. But don't expect to be speaking fluent Spanish in three months. No method will achieve that unless you are extremely talented at languages. However if you have the patience to work through the CDs a good few times, complement it with grammar learning and practice, in a couple of years you will have a pretty good command of the language.
