Excellent so far,
This review is from: HP Pavilion G6-2264SA 15.6-inch Laptop (Intel Core i3-2370M Processor 2.4GHz, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 750GB SATA 5400RPM HDD, Intel HD Graphics 3000, DVD-RAM, Integrated Webcam, Windows 8) (Personal Computers)
I have always been nervous about having anything other than IBM or Toshiba laptops in the past, on reliability grounds. However I took the plunge with my G6 (I bought the AMD A8 processor with 8GB memory option) and so far I am very pleased with it. It is fairly quick and reasonably well made (for the price). HP ancillary software also is well constructed. All the laptops costing around £400 have quite similar displays (to my eyes,) but the keyboards and trackpads vary quite a bit. I preferred the HP keyboard to most of the others I tried. Trackpad works OK for me too, but I won't be using it much, as I prefer a mouse.
If the G6 continues to work without problems I shall be very happy with my choice.
There are lots of reviews talking more about Win 8 than the laptop, which seems a bit irrelevant to me, so I am not going to do that, other than to say do NOT buy some lesser (or more expensive) product that comes with Win 7 installed just to avoid Win 8 - it takes just a few minutes to learn how to dodge around the interface that looks like a child's paint box, and if you install a little add on product called Start 8 you can make it behave just like Win 7 (only better!)
