This review is from: The Other Queen (Paperback)
I am a huge fan of Philippa Gregory but really couldnt get into this book, in fact I didnt finish it. The charectors are one dimensional, predictable and not at all likable, the story line was tedious..if you have enjoyed her other books then give this one a miss.

And mine! The only disappointing book by this author. The others are ALL excellent, so am very sorry to have found this book so dull. Am currently forcing myself to finish it.

John Book says:
Someone commented that the most exciting part of Mary Queen of Scots life had already happened.Perhaps the fact that she had been imprisoned by Elizabeth and eventually betrayed by her has something to do with Phillipa Gregory's alleged difficulty in making this "Tudor" novel interesting?History should not be regarded as"tedious" because the popular myth of "Good Queen Bess" has been challenged by this writing. It is surprising that real people are described as one-dimensional.....might I suggest that those who were less compelled by this novel consider that these events did happen and have huge significance in the history of our nation.
