Keeping it Simple,

While not quite pocket sized this handy little book,(just 16x14cm), takes the simple approach to make straightforward vegetable dishes.
Suitable for vegetarians but less so vegans this really wins out as a great way to introduce healthier meat free meals into a formally meat orientated diet.
The introduction, while clear & short, gives some helpful tips including a brief description of the more commonly used ingredients & even advice on storage.
The main headings are `breakfast & brunch', `starters & snacks', `main meals', soups & stews', `salads & sides', `breads & baking' & `desserts'.
The format is really simple. The recipe including ingredients, preparation & cooking time & how many it serves sits on the left hand page while on the right is a full colour photograph of what you hope it's going to look like.
While there are some more exotic dishes these are by & large pretty straightforward & for the most part do not require the reader to hunt down rare & expensive ingredients.
There is nothing here that a person with just basic skills cannot attempt but at the same time will look really tempting & taste great.
If you are after something to help you impress your foodie friends or take you to the next level of vegetarian dishes then this isn't for you but if your looking to dip your culinary toes into vegetarian cooking properly for the first time or just introduce some extra ideas to your list then this is spot on and comes at a price that makes it difficult to argue with.
