More fool me.,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Parade (Audio CD)
After the recent Duran and Spandau horrors, I said I wasn't going to pre-order the 'Parade' special edition until I'd seen some positive reviews. Well, I didn't and 'Parade' is more of the same.
It will come as no surprise to those in the know that it is heavily compressed and extremely hard on the ears. It sounds better than the original CD, but only just! Added to this, the bonus CD (admittedly of little interest to me) is also shrill, loud and unpleasant to listen to. At least they were consistent!
The packaging is yet another disappointment. The CDs are housed in a rather flimsy digipak sleeve that only includes a cheap, nasty fold-out sheet with a few photos. There are NO sleevenotes or lyrics of any kind. It looks like it was put together in 5 minutes. Not on, as this is hardly a budget release. Overall, not ones for the diehard fans, and let's be honest, who else is it aimed at?
'Parade', one of Spandau Ballet's best and most successful albums, deserved better than this.

Thank you for your very "elaborate" review. The very fact that you would criticize the digipack pagacking is what made me realize that we're not on the same page at all, and that this particular release is for me. I LOVE digipacks, and I don't see why anyone, who originally bought vinyl albums would discard these deluxe editions unless you preferred cheap-looking casette tapes to vinyl albums in the first place. Why anyone would prefer jewel cases (cheap-looking plastic) is beyond me. And, yes, the sound is fine, too!
