This book reminded me of the SF that I read back in the 70s. Aliens were bad and kind of dumb, humans were good, hyper-technology solves all things.
Is it brilliant, a masterwork? No. However, it is very much of its genre and decently written if lacking in depth of character. Characterisation was never a strong point of old school SF. It is an enjoyable book that will fill an idle hour and it is very inexpensive so it is certainly value for money.
If you want an old school space opera novel, you could do worse than to choose this. If you are looking for modern big concept SF, well, perhaps this is not the one for you.
