3.0 out of 5 stars Possible problem with bonus dvd, 23 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)

Folks

I opted to listen to the accompanying dvd first, to get a taste of the album in 5.1.

Unfortunately, there is no menu on the disc - just a black screen. The dvd does play the album, but you can't choose which track to play. All you can do is listen in sequence and watch a screen where there was presumably meant to be a menu or image.

I tried this on two different players, but same result.

Anyone else having this problem?

Yes, I've tried the dvd and have the same problem. It starts playing but there is no way of controlling it, no audio options and no screen menu. Pretty shoddy really.

I have the same problem although you can still skip back and forward with your dvd remote.

Regarding Dream Theatre dvd 5.1 I have same issue. Just blank screen, no band logo or track listing like that are usually found in 5.1 mix disc and I have four or five other to compare it to.

Same here, but even worse when I try to play the DVD-Audio (hi-res) tracks on my Oppo BDP103, it breaks up in a mess of digital distortion (and no, apparently it's not meant to sound like that!) and locks up the player after about 40 seconds. The same symptoms have been experienced by other Oppo 103 owners, according to AV internet forums, so it could be an Oppo firmware issue. The standard DVD (Pro Logic II) audio layer plays OK though, but like you say, without any navigable menu.
