In an age when you're considered smug if you know something, all sorts of idiocy is allowed to flourish. In fact, the idiots somehow think they're wiser entirely because they don't know anything, or anything conventional at any rate. As a result they cling with great pleasure and doggedness to anything unconventional or contrary. Dr Thompson burns away the snake oil with scorching wit and red-hot prose.

DM Mccarthy says:
Another mate of the author who doen't declare an interest! Shame on you sire. Still I suppose the author must like getting another 5-star review for his rotten book (again see Wilkinson's full review).
