Huge Potential (Book 1 only),
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Kellie's Diary #1 (Kindle Edition)
I enjoyed reading this, I generally love anything set out Diary style, and anything zombie related, so this wins by ticking both boxes.
Overall spelling, grammar, punctuation etc were fine, no issues for me on that front. The story is intended to be read as written by a young girl, and so the intentional miss-spellings and errors are obvious and well placed.
My problem with this is that there's barely anything to it.
I know it was free, so this isn't really a complaint. The intention is clearly to hook you in and get you to buy the next installment.
The main thing preventing me from doing that is the length of this one.
The diaries are presented as a series, and if every installment is as short as this, I wouldn't be willing to pay. The story didn't start until around 13%, after foreword etc, and ended at 86%. Each page moved it along 2-3% and the whole thing took about 10 minutes to read.
The content was interesting, the perspective was endearing and compelling, but there just wasn't enough to hook me in.
I would recommend the free version, but I would've been annoyed to have paid for this and then discovered what little of it there actually was.
That said, I think the idea itself has incredible potential, and, were the whole thing to be presented as a book in its entireity, rather than in installments, I would definately buy it.
