For a Noob to Role Playing Games this was a Delight,
This review is from: Fable II (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
I don't know about hard core role playing gamers but I can recommend this as a noob to role playing (bar long ago dabbling with Bard's tale and Eye of the Beholder). I'm much more a FPS (Half Life 2, Leaf 4 Dead, Counter Strike, Bound in Blood) and fifa gamer.
Fable II is easy to get in to, the graphic world varied and excellent, there's an excellent balance of main quests and smaller ones and a lots of side task you can do; simple jobs to earn money; property development; be a retailer; romancing; treasure to find and dig up. I often find myself distracted from a quest to check out a location or try something out.
You go round with a dog as a companion who is well animated and you can learn extra skills to get the dog to do things as you can yourself. Combat so far has not been to tricky but I expect it to get harder.
There's some great actors doing the characters voices with ZoŽ Wanamaker in the leading role but others like Julia Sawalha and Steven Fry. A nice bonus. (The music and dialogue are good too.)
One problem is remembering all the tips you discover and the missions you on but there is a menu so you can keep track of them. One small point is the map would be better if you could scan the know world with more control.
I'd warn people that the opening sequence looks very cute with the kids and the snow but the age rating of 15 is about right (well 12 not right) as there are moral questions, option to marry and have intercourse though the fights aren't that graphic.
I always new there was a danger if I got into RPG's it might really grab me I'd be hooked and this certainly has with the excellent graphics and so many things to do. I'm now curious about Fable III and Skyrim. I need more hours in the day.
