This review is from: The Fallen Star (Kindle Edition)
I bought this as is seemed like a nice typical young adult fantasy romance - there are many elements in this book which make this statement true. However, i liked the twist of the fantasy - not the usual - and though i was a little disappointed with slight lack of feeling that happened between Gemma and the two other teen characters (that weren't Alex - the love interest). I also got irritated, very, with her complete ignorance on the connections of what she was seeing, hearing and expieriencing. Now i'm sure, as explained in the book, she's in a confused state, feeling things for the first time, but even a five year old could have picked up on the such obvious connections. I wonder whether the mistake though, was in the Author writing it so obviously. If we felt like we weren't quite sure exactly what was connected to what, then maybe as a reader it would be easier to understand why she could not.
(this will probably make more sense once you've read the book!)
Otherwise though, it was an enjoyable read with a major cliffhanger on the end which I wasn't actually expecting to really happen. Will definitly continue to read the series once the next book is out which I understand is called 'The Underworld' and due out later this year.
I just hope that Alex proves to be a better person than he has been so far.
