Will Weather The Storm,
This review is from: The Oncoming Storm (Audio CD)
There's no doubt about it, Unearth are HEAVY. For me they sit snugly between the more commercial, yet still acceptable stylings of Chimaira and Killswitch Engage, and the raw underground brutality of the likes of Bleeding Through.
For me it is easiest to judge this album on one track, the enormous opener, 'The Great Dividers'. This song has recently been made into a video and so will probably be all over MTV:2 and Scuzz very soon and rightly so. It is blisteringly heavy, riffs so huge they partially eclipse the Sun, and a breakdown 2mins in that shudders your brain like a car crash.
To sum it all up I believe Unearth, a band slowly but surely creeping into the public eye thanks to other band's enthusiasm about them, will be here to stay as long as they make like Chimaira and stay true and will soon be selling out large clubs with the likes of As I Lay Dying and 36 Crazyfists.
