This is a really good feel good novel about love and loss, heartwarming and nostalgic. I absolutely loved it and had a jolly good weep at the end. Phoebe runs away back to her childhood home on the west coast of Ireland after losing her family then her beloved David. Sadly David was her married lover so she has to stand and watch her friends comfort his distraught wife after the funeral unable to express her own hidden grief. Once in Ireland she begins to uncover a story, written in diary form of her Grandmother's written secretly. a story of forbidden love and desperation which, once told, will startle Phoebe into realising her ancestory is not quite what she thought it was. So many wonderful things about this book brought back memories for me; the West Coast of Ireland, searching for heartstones on the beach, making pottery, all of which I used to do with my own Grandmother. I can't recommend this highly enough if you are after a cosy read by the fire with lots of smiles, sadness and eventually tears and it's now going on my keepers shelf to be read again soon, just lovely.
