Abit slow....but good overall,
This review is from: Crazy Good (Kindle Edition)
3.5 stars. One word …….slow. I don’t say that in a negative way, well not completely at least. Yes this book, or rather the relationship between Windsor and Maverick was a little slow and frustrating in parts. Firstly, Maverick is on a hell-bent mission to ‘bag’ Windsor after he meets her in a club. She represents a challenge so of course he has to satisfy the urge and pursues her relentlessly in the beginning. This part I liked. Hmmmmhmmmm. Windsor however wants nothing to do with the double-dimpled Navy-SEAL man-whore, especially after her last boyfriend/fiancé cheated on her. This whole synopsis, together with the brilliant first chapter (which gives you a clue as to what is to come later…..so I won’t mention what) has the makings for a great story.
Where did it do slightly wrong/lose rating? Well firstly, after his relentless pursuit and Windsor’s denial, they just kinda end up dating. I had to re-read a chapter just to make sure I didn’t miss something. It was like she just suddenly decided to give him a chance. Secondly, once they finally give into their attraction, they both end up hesitating in progressing ‘to the next level’. Windsor doesn’t like the idea of his ‘bagging-random-women-in-a-hotel’ past, and Maverick……….grrrrggghhhh! He suddenly turned from a predator-SEAL to being so whiny, wanting to take things slow. His realisation as to why he wanted this – that he doesn’t just want what he's had with countless other women – should have been sweet. But by this point I just rolled my eyes and shouted at my kindle….”grow a pair Mav!” Then to top it off, he pulls out his guitar and serenades a song for her. Like the guy could be any more perfect! Or cheesy!
So aside from all that, and the reason I kept reading, was because I knew something big was coming up (due to the first chapter). And it does. This was also hard to read because as a result of the ‘big thing’, we now have two stubborn MCs!
Needless to say, they sort themsleves out, particularly Maverick and they get their HEA. A good story, which im sure many people will love, i just seemed to see only the cheesiness of it.
