keep on rockin' lads,
This review is from: Get What You Need (Audio CD)
i think its a shame that this album - and others like it by
reformed punk bands Buzzcocks and Stiff Little Fingers - will only be heard by the devotees and certain sections of the musical press as the general public concentrate on "urban dance"
singles and bubblegum rockers like Busted - this is a good album and any one of the songs featured here could have featured on the Undertones first two albums. each one is catchy and memorable but still spiky enough thanks to its muscular guitars. the only quibble i have is theres no Fergal Sharkey. The singer does a good job and on several of the songs he pays the ultimate homage to Fergal by reproducing the irishman's famous stuttering-sounding vocals, but Sharkeys voice, just the sheer recognizability of it, is sadly missed and for me it could be another band singing here. still, i bought it, i like it, hurry up bringing out the DVD fellas!
