Useful encyclopaedia - but some bands I had not heard of, however all the ones I expected were there.
Most bands get a two page spread showing personnel arranged on a time line basis, and some brief facts together with details of their most successful albums. Page 12 is crucial to understand all the colour coding and symbolism used.
Produced on good quality paper and is a useful reference point, although it will obviously date.
It's main usefulness is the charts setting out who performed when, and sometimes there are long gaps which show up well. However as some bands cover over 40 years and others about four years the time lines do not have a consistent measurement along the axis. But the other facts are partly, as far as I can see, reflecting the opinion of the writers. It is all referenced and some useful lists at the back.
A great volume to dip into and check out the facts. Recommended.
