Another Wednesday morning...,

This review is from: Caffeine Row EP (Audio CD)
The Suffolk music scene is quite abysmal. I should know - I've lived here all my life. But for a few months we were treated to a really great band: The Dawn Parade. Having recently gone their seperate ways, singer Greg McDonald has gone solo (as well as appearing with the Bloody Marys), and things just aren't the same. It's a shame because the Dawn Parade were special.
Single 'Caffeine Row' is an epic lament - this, along with 'Hole in my Heart' is the keystone of their live performances, and Greg's ululating on the "and it burns" sounds fantastic.
'Wider Than The January Skies' is a hugely confident song, worthy of a band of a bigger reputation. The ending could, in fact, quite easily be a U2 song. Only better, because I don't like U2. It's a song that's incredibly relaxing, yet at the same time euphoric and uplifting, and it'll doubtless cheer you up on a cold winter morning.
What remains to be discovered is whether or not Greg's inexorable desire to be famous will come to fruition. If there's any logic in the world....
I mean, 'A' made it, and they're from Lowestoft...
