The book is Average,
This review is from: The Twelve Caesars (Paperback)
I'm sure if you were into the Roman Empire you would love this book, but for the average reader it's, well, average.
There are two problems the book has. First off, in every 'mini biography', it starts out PAINFULLY boring, talking about the emperor's father, and what his childhood was like... Then it starts talking about how he came to power, so it gets a little more interesting, then he talks about all the people the emperor tortured, and all their sexual excesses and that's when it gets really interesting!!
The other problem is that the first two emperors (Caesar, technically not an emperor, and Augustus) have almost as many pages devoted to them as all subsequent emperors combined.
