Great game, but unfinished/bugged...,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (PS3) (Video Game)
Bethesda has a history of releasing broken/bugged unfinished games, and then they try to fix it with several patches until they eventually give up and abandon it.
Sadly, this one doesn't escape that "rule".
The game itself is beautiful, a vast detailed open world, filled with many many quests, giving you the freedom to choose what to do when you want, and, if you get bored of exploring you can always go back to the main quest until you feel like going back to side quests/misc quests again.
You can play the game the way it better suits you, you can be mean or you can be good or even both!
You don't need to get to a certain level to equip an armor or a weapon, you just need to get your hands on it, or have enough skill to craft it.
Now the bad part, the bugs...
Since the release this game as been haunted with several issues, and after several patches, some still exist.
Six months after release, and after 5 patches, there are still performance problems on the PS3. After 50+ hours of gameplay you will get lag, some areas more than others, areas with fog are more affected.
There are still graphical glitches (shadows cast by fire are pixelated, on a PSone console level!), there are broken quests, quests you do, but dont clear from your journal, quests that you have done but if you read a book or something like that will trigger them again. Some players hardly find dragons or see killcams, others (like me) are constantly running into dragons and nearly every kill gets a killcam (it gets REALLY annoying after the first 10 times...). Other times (but less frequently) the game just freezes and you have to reset the console.
Some users seem to have a issue when they stay away from home a few days and go back to find their things missing from the chests and weapon racks (i had that once).
Its not a game you can just sit and play, you need to save before every step you take as a precaution, and that doesnt suit every player.
These problems seem to be here to stay, Bethesda abandoned the main game and now is focused in releasing DLC to make more money.
Conclusion: Its a great game, but i only recommend getting it for the PS3 if you have no other alternative (the best version is the PC, then the Xbox - there are unofficial fixes for the pc version and several mods that can improve gameplay).
