1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Like a Nano!!, 5 Nov. 2012
This review is from: TechNiched 8GB Super Slim 5th Gen MP3 MP4 Player with 2.2" LCD, Camera, FM Radio, Shake, Gravity Sensor, Touch Wheel & 30 Pin iPod Connector Interface - 1YR WARRANTY (Electronics)
I ordered one of these looking at the fantastic specification however returned it as per the sellers guide.
The Good Bits...
The player looks a bit like an older iPod nano and to some extent has similar functionality it is a bit wider and the dock adapter works for charging (music can be played as well if you fiddle around but this comes with a degree of hiss and general background noise). The device is seen as a removable drive when plugged into a PC but do not try to use iTunes copy music across as it does not copy any artwork over and also does not copy the artist/album details. Best to drag the folders with an album cover in the folder using explorer. The little case and accessories are a bonus and a child would be made up with them.

The bad points...
The scroll wheel is unresponsive - most of the time not working at all and then jumping about 10 steps - inevitably going past what you wanted to listen to or the miss function you wanted, this drives you crazy... When you do get to the song you want do not expect it to sound good, what a shame, but it was nothing like using a nano and there was no other way to navigate round the functions.
Very very poor sound quality - I used several sets of headphones/ear buds to test and listen including some decent Skullcandy and Sennheiser. None made much difference to the sound, unlike using them on many other devices where the headphones make all the difference. Little bass and sound was dull mainly a mix of mid range. No EQ either to change the sound.
Summary
I wanted a cheap mp3 player for the gym - however the poor sound quality and very annoying touch wheel left me very disappointed and it was returned for a partial refund (minus £4 for the postage - the original stamps came to less than £1.50).
So if you want an mp3 player to navigate to songs and then listen to music then I suggest a different one!!

Hi,

Whilst we appreciate your feedback on our product, we'd just like to point out a few things;

The player isn't compatible with iTunes or docking stations, this is mentioned in the listing.

You returned your order saying there was nothing wrong it, you just wanted to buy something a lot more expensive yet you leave us a 1 star review, doesn't really add up?

The touch wheel can take a little getting used to, but you can use the right and left buttons to navigate also, so there is no reason why you'd keep missing the tracks you wanted to select.

EQ settings can be changed via the sub menu whilst you have a music track playing keeping the middle button held for 2 seconds will bring it up.

Lastly your refund was minus P&P of £2 (as mentioned clearly in the listing) not £4 as you have stated, also original stamps were £1.85, 15p goes toward packaging materials.

Kind Regards

Tim @ TechNiched.
