A good book sensibly priced.,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Duel in the Mist 2: The Leibstandarte During the Ardennes Offensive (Hardcover)
I have both the Duel in the Mist books and they are a mixed bag.
The first contained excellent written material mainly concerning the German side but was hampered by a high retail price, poor photos and subjective narration.
This second book has addressed two of the above issues by presenting numerous excellent photos especially of panthers with a sensible retail price.
I would even go as far as saying this book is worth the sub £35 cover price for the photos alone, they are that good.
The text is heavy on the American perspective a little too much for my taste but it is mixed with some fair German accounts.
The overall product is a fine example of the books being published by the people at Panzerwrecks and just feels like quality.
Overall this book is worth the purchase to anyone interest in this part of WWII or military reading in general, the price is the key.
If this book had been sold at the price of the first edition's initial price I would have said it was just not worth it for the content, but it isn't and if you can get it from Amazon as I did for sub £25 you have a real bargain.
A good book for the asking price even if it is just for the photos.
