I don't like giving up on books but having to open this at lunch time every day was becoming too depressing.
Unmemorable, random characters, the changing names and chronology, a plot so unlikely and so unconvincing that I just didn't care any more. It gives the impression of a novel generated by a computer by randomly chopping and concatenating text from the internet.
What exactly is the point? I got the impression that even the author wasn't entirely sure. He did take me on an emotional rollercoaster though, through bored, depressed and ultimately angry.
In the best books of 2012 list? Don't make me laugh.
I only wish you could throw Kindle books in the bin with some lighter fluid.
