This is a heartwarming, simple little film, only presented in a very different way! For all of it's main critiscisms: the meandering, cycling, slow paced plot, the over the top gruesomeness of the characters, the suggestions of the immoral and wrong, Jeliza Rose's Southern drawl...that's exactly what there is to love about this movie.
I wasn't keen on first watch, but for me it now rates shoulder to shoulder with Twelve Monkeys and Brazil. Not for everyone but I see it as a perfectly conceived, surreal exploration into the minds of those who have lost and how warmth and child-like companionship can spring from even the most gruesome, bizarre situations.
