Decent pair of straighteners that adapt their temperature automatically...,
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The unique feature with these straighteners is the SensoCare technology which automatically changes temperature, depending on your needs, i.e. if your hair is a bit damp, it'll set to a lower setting, thereby protecting your hair from damage. The straighteners have a little digital screen which I think is quite cool - you can save your hair type as a preset; my hair is long and fairly fine but using these auto settings, the straighteners were much too cool - the screen reinforced this by telling me I was straightening too slow... You can set the temperature manually, but then I guess they're just like any pair of straighteners - it's the adaptive element that makes these different. I wonder if we really need the adaptive technology though - I've done fine without all these years and I'm aware if my hair is too damp for straightening...
Comparatively speaking, the adaptive element is something new I've encountered so I can't compare it to anything else. From a straightening-effectiveness point of view though, I have a pair of the original GHD's and don't feel these Braun ones are as good. The Braun straighteners are longer and bulkier so not as easy to manoeuvre - I am sure I would get used to them though. They look pretty good, not cheap & plasticky like some straighteners. I do like to curl my hair occasionally and as these have a curved barrel, they do quite a good job and I actually prefer these to my slim GHD's for curling as the Braun give a wider more natural looking curl.
I've used a fair few different straighteners over the years and these are a pretty decent pair - no, not better than my trusty GHDs which heat up faster, straighten quicker and leave the hair looking smoother and shinier than any other straightener. I do prefer them for curling though and compared to other straighteners, I think these are good. Prices go up and down but I think they are a decent alternative if you want something for half the price of the GHD equivalent.
