Musically creative, but not really my thing,

The Sellaband concept is great. Rather than a musician or band having to try and persuade the executive of a record company that their music will make them millions, they only have to convince music-loving people that their music is good enough for them to break even. So through this, artists are able to produce work which is less blandly commercial and more interesting. Regardless of what I think of any specific CD, I hope the concept thrives.
T.Ka (spelling?!) have (has?) produced an album through this which has a pretty high level of musical creativity - unexpected changes in rhythm and harmony. The singer's voice is deep - an earthy version of Tess Wiley (Not Quite Me), and the music is well arranged, and strongly jazz-influenced, with a diversity of musical instruments featured.
For me, I have to say that I'd rather hear either a "sweeter" sound from a female artist, or lyrics which are more engaging. The "Will you" song that some people have mentioned I found really irritating - a woman engaging in a diatribe about a man who has given up trying in a relationship - well, I wonder why that might have happened, eh?
However, not bad at all, and if you want to hear a potential new jazz diva and some creative musical ideas, this is a good album for you.
