This isn't like a typical Amis novel but it's well worth reading all the same. It's a great short introduction to the nightmarish Horror that was Stalinism; and an accusatory salvo at the BritLit "liberal" Establishment (The Guardianistas; including at one time his own father, as well as a close friend) who conspired to draw a veil of secrecy over a human demon worse than Hitler. Most accounts of Stalinism are enormous in scope and length. This is a quick read and a good place to start understanding the horror of totalitarianism.
