The joy of mindful eating!,
This review is from: Yoga of Eating: Transending Diets & Dogma to Nourish the Natural Self (Paperback)
A great book, in my humble opinion. And quite unique in the literature of mindful eating.
I don't particularly share the author's spiritual orientation (kind of Hindu/Taoist) but he really hits the nail on the head in many ways. It's really about developing a relaxed mindfulness towards sensual pleasure in general, of which the pleasure of eating is very typical. So it's about actually learning to listen to what your body needs and what YOU will enjoy but at the same time being alive to the many unacknowledged needs or expectations which we mistakenly expect food to fulfill. The author shows how we seek a balm for our loneliness, boredom and confusion, which leads time and again to the cookie jar or the fridge door!
A very helpful book for anyone who is at that point in life where they are prepared seriously to reflect on their habits and find a path forward which actually works!
