This review is from: The Earth Goddess (The Pagans Book 3) (Kindle Edition)
I was wondering how to review this without revealing the plot, but see another reviewer has already done so. It differs from the first two in the trilogy. If, like me, you enjoyed those two and wished to see how the conflict between nomadic forest dwellers and more technologically advanced warlord factions developed you may be disappointed. This is dismissed within the first couple of chapters and the book concentrates on a new character Paoul and his initiation into the Earth Goddess Religion.I accept that the influence, knowledge and power of the priesthood was of major significance to society at that time and as always I find the authors interpretation very well thought out, credible and enjoyable. However he concentrates for a long time on the philosophical doctrines of his fictional pagan religion and I believe many readers will, like me, find this heavy going. I also agree with another reviewer that the conclusion is a bit abrupt. The author has skipped over the potential for a couple more books at least. With a bit less doctrine and a bit more adventure, this and future books could have been great.
