This story was spoiled by inconsistency. I don't like to spoil endings and stories because others may like things I don't but I can't really say why I didn't like this book much without being specific. I liked the main character to start with. He was insecure and had a special secret. There was an interesting conflict around the guilt or innocence of the accused and the age old problem of justice for those who are thoroughly awful? Unfortunately the rest of the story was a bit of a mess. The character didn't really grown in stature as his difficulties grew, he just languished under a bit of self depravation and pity. He got a bit grating on my nerves. By the time I got to the the end I wondered what became of the secret? What was all the fuss for? I think the author forgot about it. There was also a glaring problem for me. It was this, when the main character was in danger, he went home. The bad guys didn't follow him although they had followed him all over the rest of the place. When they wanted him so badly why didn't they go where they knew he would be? So along with the inconsistencies others have mentioned it was not feasible story.
