Micro USB problem - user error?,
This review is from: Western Digital My Passport Essential 250GB Ultra Portable USB Hard Drive - Black (Personal Computers)
I've read many people complaining that the Micro USB port is not held securely in place. If you plug in the Micro USB cable to the HDD you have to push it on securely. The first contact is loose but then you push over the locking position and the cable is held firmly in place. I wonder if the other reviewers just didn't push this on far enough. This seems very good value for the design.

No matter how far/hard I push it on it doen't make any difference. I wonder if this is a faulty unit?

I have had exactly the same problem with the micro-USB as others to the extent my drive was no longer usable - until I read this review. Sliding the micro-USB to the right does now indeed lock the cable in place and my drive is now correctly detected and mounted. What an awful (non-obvious!) design - thanks to D. Daniel though, I now have access to my drive again!
