ABOUT TIME TOO!,
This review is from: All I Have To Do Is Dream (Audio CD)
In the 1960`s it was commonplace for a TV or Film Actor/Actress to make a record. Some clearly could not sing (Clint Eastwood etc.) and some spoke (Telly Savalas), quite successfully too. Others like George Maharis of `Route 66` fame and Richard Chamberlain could, and very well too. What became of George Maharis, I do not know, but the fine singing voice of Richard Chamberlain, initially the star of `Dr Kildare`, lives on thanks to this CD.
It has taken a long time to be released and I must thank `Jasmine Records` for doing so. I bought this CD through Amazon USA and have owned for about 1 month prior to its release in the UK. It has 29 tracks, covering all the singles released, plus all but one of the `B`-sides. Why "A Kiss To Build A Dream On" was omitted we may never know. Each of the singles released reached the charts, proving he was not a one-hit wonder. My favourites are, "Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo", "True Love", "Love Me Tender", "April Love", "Blue Guitar", "Rome Will Never Leave You", (actually sung during an episode of Dr Kildare), and his first chart entry, "Three Stars Will Shine Tonight". The other tracks are also of a very high standard, and this type of singing will never date, unlike much of the `pop` music we hear today. If you like a song, sung well, then there is no reason to doubt that Richard Chamberlain will keep you satisfied.
After this Richard Chamberlain, made many films, including `The Slipper And The Rose`, here in England, as well as the odd TV series and remained a firm favourite.

Like you I thought it strange that A Kiss To Build A Dream On was left off the cd - actually Richard's versison was the first I ever heard as it was the B side to Three Stars Will Shine Tonight. Richard was excellent in the series Shogun & The Thorn Birds.
